What a Canggu Villa Rental Costs Per Week

A four-bedroom villa in Canggu starts near USD 8,000 a week in the November-to-March green season and runs to USD 26,000 over the July peak, while a ten-bedroom Nyanyi estate reaches USD 140,000 at Christmas. Bali adds a 10 percent PB1 hospitality tax on the rental line, and every foreign visitor pays a one-time tourist levy of IDR 150,000, about USD 10, before arrival. This guide prices the rental the way a villa manager would: by bedroom, by season, and by the all-in week, with three worked examples and the levers that cut the total.

Two facts govern Canggu pricing before you read a single rate band. The first is the season split. The dry season from May to September, and the July-to-August window in particular, carries the year’s high rates alongside the Christmas-to-New-Year block, while the green season from November to March drops the same villa 30 to 45 percent and trades a guaranteed pool morning for the risk of an afternoon storm. The second is the drive. Ngurah Rai airport (DPS) sits only about 13 km away, but the road into Berawa and Batu Bolong runs 60 to 90 minutes and longer in afternoon traffic, so the arrival slot matters more than the map suggests.

The rates below were verified against May 2026 cards from the managed Canggu villa operators working across Berawa, Batu Bolong, Pererenan, Echo Beach, and the quieter Seseh and Nyanyi rice-field fringe. The tax layer is the 10 percent PB1 regional hospitality tax applied to the rental line, plus the per-person Bali tourist levy of IDR 150,000 introduced on 14 February 2024 and paid through the official Love Bali system. No. I  ·  Headline Rates

The starting number, by bedroom and season.

Headline weekly rate before the PB1 tax, the tourist levy, transfers, and a chef. Peak is July to August and the Christmas to New Year block. Dry shoulder is May, June, September, and the first half of October. Green season is November through March, when the surf is biggest and the afternoon rain arrives.

Bali villa cards quote in USD at the luxury tier, with the IDR equivalent shown for local services. The best dollar-per-bedroom sits in Pererenan and the Seseh rice-field fringe, where a short scooter or car hop to the Berawa beach clubs buys a larger plot and a quieter night than a Batu Bolong address on the Echo Beach strip.

No. II  ·  The Line Items

What sits on top of the headline.

PB1 hospitality tax: 10% of the rental line

Bali applies a 10 percent regional hospitality tax, the Pajak Pembangunan I or PB1, to accommodation and restaurant services. On a USD 30,000 headline that is USD 3,000 added to the rental line, collected and remitted by a registered villa operator. An owner-direct villa outside the system may quote a rate that excludes it, which is a contract question to settle before you compare two listings, because the all-in figures will not match.

Bali tourist levy: IDR 150,000 (about USD 10) per foreign visitor

Since 14 February 2024 every foreign visitor pays a one-time levy of IDR 150,000, roughly USD 10, payable online through the official Love Bali system before arrival. For a group of 12 that is about USD 120 total, a rounding line against the villa, but pay it ahead to skip the airport queue. It is charged per person per entry, not per villa or per night.

Private chef and staff: often included, dinners billed at cost

The Canggu luxury tier is staff-heavy and most of it sits in the headline: a daily housekeeper, a pool and garden attendant, a villa manager, and frequently a cook for breakfast. A private chef for dinners runs USD 60 to USD 130 per service plus food at cost, with market food landing at USD 12 to USD 30 per head. A week of five chef dinners for ten runs USD 1,800 to USD 4,500 all in, a fraction of the equivalent in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean.

Car, driver, and transfers: USD 45 to USD 75 per day

A private car with driver runs USD 45 to USD 75 for a full day in and around Canggu, the most reliable way to move a group given the traffic. Airport transfers run USD 25 to USD 45 each way. Scooters are cheap and ubiquitous but we do not recommend them for villa guests unfamiliar with Bali traffic; the car and driver is the line that buys back the most time.

Gratuities: USD 5 to USD 10 per staff member per day

A cash gratuity of USD 5 to USD 10 per staff member per day, pooled and handed to the villa manager on departure, is the practice at this tier. On a fully staffed six-bedroom villa with five resident staff that is USD 175 to USD 350 across a week, modest against the rental and genuinely valued.

No. III  ·  Worked Examples

Three weeks. Three real totals.

Three trip configurations priced across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, verified against the source quotes. The pattern holds: in Bali the line items add only 15 to 30 percent on top of the headline, because the staff are already in the rate and the food and drivers are cheap.

Example I

Four friends, green season, four-bedroom Berawa villa.

Headline: USD 9,500 / wk (green season, pool, walk to Berawa).

PB1 tax (10%) USD 950. Bali levy (4 people) USD 40. Chef four dinners (USD 90 each) USD 360 plus food USD 520. Welcome grocery pre-stock USD 180. Car and driver five days USD 320. Airport transfers round trip USD 70. Surf lessons and boards USD 280. Gratuities USD 245.

All-in: USD 12,465 for the week.
Premium over headline: 31%.

Example II

Family of 8, dry-season July, five-bedroom Pererenan villa.

Headline: USD 24,000 / wk (peak, rice-field view, full staff).

PB1 tax (10%) USD 2,400. Bali levy (8 people) USD 80. Chef six dinners (USD 110 each) USD 660 plus food USD 1,260. Pre-stock USD 320. Car and driver seven days USD 490. Airport transfers (two vehicles) USD 140. Babysitter three evenings USD 180. Day trip to Uluwatu with driver USD 120. Gratuities USD 560.

All-in: USD 30,310 for the week.
Premium over headline: 26%.

Example III

Group of 12, New Year block, eight-bedroom Nyanyi estate.

Headline: USD 68,000 / wk (peak, beachfront, full staff, concierge).

PB1 tax (10%) USD 6,800. Bali levy (12 people) USD 120. Chef seven dinners (USD 130 each) USD 910 plus food USD 2,520. Pre-stock USD 540. Two cars and drivers seven days USD 1,960. Airport transfers (three legs) USD 320. New Year event staff and fireworks USD 2,400. Spa therapists in-villa USD 880. Gratuities USD 980.

All-in: USD 85,950 for the week.
Premium over headline: 26%.

The premium over headline in Canggu is the lowest of any destination we cover, because the resident staff are baked into the rate and the chef, drivers, and food cost a fraction of the Mediterranean equivalent. The variable that moves the total is the season, not the line items.

No. IV  ·  Reducing the Bill

How to cut the total, without cutting the trip.

Five levers move the all-in figure on a Canggu week.

Book the green season for the pool days you actually want. November to March drops the headline 30 to 45 percent, the mornings are usually clear, and the surf is at its best. The trade is an afternoon storm risk, not a washout.

Trade Batu Bolong for Pererenan or the Seseh fringe. A short car hop to the Berawa beach clubs instead of a strip-front address buys a larger plot, a quieter night, and a lower rate at matched bedroom count.

Use the in-villa chef rather than the beach-club tab. Five chef dinners for ten run under USD 4,500 all in, well below a week of Berawa and Seminyak restaurant nights, and the cook is often already in the rate.

Pay the Bali levy online before you fly. It is only about USD 10 per person, but paying through the Love Bali system ahead of arrival skips the airport queue at the start of the trip.

What we would pass on: a peak-week villa wedged against the Echo Beach club strip. The night noise carries to the bedrooms past midnight, and you are paying the year’s highest rate for the room you can least sleep in. Move two streets back for the same money.

No. V  ·  Logistics & Weather

The drive, the rain, and the surf.

Bali has two seasons and Canggu lives by them. The dry season runs roughly April to October, with reliable sun, the biggest crowds in July and August, and the firmest rates. The green season runs November to March, with hot, humid days, short heavy afternoon storms, and the cleaner surf swells that draw the dawn lineup at Echo Beach and Batu Bolong. Neither season is a washout; the green months simply trade a guaranteed dry afternoon for a 30-to-45-percent rate cut.

The airport drive is the logistics line that catches first-timers. Ngurah Rai (DPS) is about 13 km south, but the road into Canggu runs 60 to 90 minutes in normal conditions and past two hours in a late-afternoon jam or heavy rain. Build the arrival around a morning or mid-day landing, keep a car and driver for the week, and treat the scooter swarm as scenery rather than a transport plan for a villa group.

FAQ

The questions readers ask.

How much is a Canggu villa rental per week?

A four-bedroom villa runs USD 8,000 to USD 14,000 in the green season and USD 14,000 to USD 26,000 over the July and Christmas peak. Six and eight-bedroom compounds run USD 24,000 to USD 80,000 in peak, and a ten-bedroom Nyanyi or Seseh estate reaches USD 140,000. After the 10 percent PB1 tax, staff, and transfers, the all-in week runs 15 to 30 percent above the headline.

What taxes apply to a Canggu villa rental?

Bali charges a 10 percent regional hospitality tax (PB1) on the rental line, collected by a registered operator. Separately, every foreign visitor pays a one-time tourist levy of IDR 150,000, about USD 10, introduced on 14 February 2024 and paid online through the official Love Bali system before arrival.

When are Canggu villa prices highest?

July to August and the Christmas to New Year block are the two sharpest peaks, within a broader dry-season high from May to September. The green season from November to March is the cheapest, 30 to 45 percent below peak, with clear mornings and short afternoon storms.

How do you get from the airport to a Canggu villa?

Ngurah Rai (DPS) is about 13 km south, but the drive runs 60 to 90 minutes and longer in afternoon traffic or rain. A private car transfer runs USD 25 to USD 45 each way. Build the trip around a morning arrival and keep a car and driver for the week.

What does a Canggu villa rate usually include?

Most villas include a daily housekeeper, a pool and garden attendant, a villa manager, and often a breakfast cook in the headline. A private chef for dinners, a car and driver, daily grocery service, and a babysitter sit on top. Confirm whether the cook is included or whether all meals are chef-billed.

Is there a minimum stay for a Canggu villa at peak?

Yes. Christmas and New Year usually require seven nights, and the larger estates hold a 10-to-14-night block across the holiday. July to August commonly carries a five-to-seven-night minimum. Green-season weeks from November to March are where shorter stays open up.
