No. I
COMO Laucala Island, three-bedroom Hilltop Residence.
Bedrooms: 3 (and 4 to 6-bedroom configurations across the 25-villa estate). Sleeps: 6 per residence, full-island buyout up to 80 across 25 villas. Island: Laucala (private, 12 km²), east of Vanua Levu, 75-minute private-jet transfer from Nadi on the 1,580-meter island strip. Water access: private beach per villa, full marine fleet (catamaran charter, sportfishing, dive), 9-hole David McLay Kidd golf course (verified laucala.com May 2026). Peak nightly rate: from $5,600 / night plus 15 percent VAT and STT on entry villas, $11,000 to $24,000 / night on the larger Plateau and Beach Residences (verified comohotels.com May 2026). Included: all meals (full menu, not a fixed price), local-spirit bar, water-sports stack, dive (one tank per day), 9-hole golf, kids program. Not included: premium wines and champagne, sportfishing charter, dive past one tank per day, spa. .
Why it ranks here: the only Fijian property that operates as a 12-square-kilometer private island under single ownership (Dietrich Mateschitz estate after his 2022 death, with COMO Hotels operating since 2023, verified COMO press materials and Bloomberg estate reporting). The 25-villa estate runs on island-grown produce (the farm covers 50 hectares of working agriculture, verified Forbes 2024 reporting), with the dairy, the bakery, and the wine cellar all on-island. Three-bedroom Hilltop, four-bedroom Plateau, and the six-bedroom Peninsula Residence each hold their own pool and beach access. For a 6 to 18-person family or friends group at the top of the dry-season band, this is the Pacific equivalent of Musha Cay (Exumas) on a four-times larger land mass.
What we would change: the inbound flight register is the constraint. Nadi to Laucala runs only on the daily mid-morning Laucala-operated Caravan or on a private jet to the island strip (which adds $12,000 to $24,000 one-way charter from Nadi). The Caravan capacity is 14 seats; for a 14-plus group, the private jet from Sydney or Auckland to the island strip is the only single-leg option.

No. II
Vatulele Island, single-villa or full-buyout.
Bedrooms: 18 villas (bures), single-bedroom each, 2 connecting at the Point villas. Sleeps: 36 per full-island buyout (18 couples). Island: Vatulele (private, 31 km²), 70 km south of Viti Levu (the main island), 25-minute helicopter transfer from Nadi. Water access: private beaches across the lee-shore villa line, Vatulele lagoon (one of the largest in Fiji at 6 km²), full marine fleet. Peak nightly rate: FJD 2,000 to 3,500 per night per couple (about USD 920 to 1,610 per couple), all-inclusive (verified privateislandsonline.com May 2026); full-island buyout in the $48,000 to $84,000 per night band. Included: all meals, all drinks (full bar including champagne), water sports, two snorkel trips daily, kids program, helicopter transfer included on stays of 7 nights or more. Not included: dive (separate), sportfishing, spa. .
Why it ranks here: the only Fijian private-island compound that runs as a single-villa-per-couple register with the lagoon at the door, post-2018 full-resort renovation. The Henry Crawford and Martin Livingston founding partnership (1990) ran the original Vatulele through 2015; the post-2018 Pacific Resort Hotels (NZ) ownership reset the operating standard. For a couple-led group of 12 to 36 (six to eighteen couples) at a wedding or milestone, the single-bure register reads against any private-island compound in the Pacific.
What we would change: the all-inclusive register makes the headline-rate-to-cash-cost math easier, but it forces every couple onto a single dining venue per night. Confirm the private-dinner-on-beach upcharge (about FJD 500 to FJD 900 per couple) in writing on inquiry if the group wants split-table service across the week.

No. III
Kokomo Private Island Fiji, six-bedroom Beachfront Residence.
Bedrooms: up to 6 (across the Residence configuration; the resort has 21 villas and 5 residences). Sleeps: 12 per six-bedroom Residence; full-island buyout to approximately 130 across all keys. Island: Kokomo (private, 0.55 km²), Kadavu Group, 45-minute helicopter transfer from Nadi. Water access: The Great Astrolabe Reef (the world’s fourth-largest barrier reef, verified IUCN reef registry), six private beaches across the residences, dive operation, sportfishing. Peak nightly rate: $9,800 to $24,000 / night per Residence (verified kokomoislandfiji.com May 2026). Included: all meals, water sports, dive (separate by tank or package), kids program, helicopter transfer at the Residence level. Not included: Astrolabe Reef dive packages, manta-ray season private boat, sportfishing. .
Why it ranks here: the only Fijian private-island compound with year-round confirmed manta-ray sightings at the door (the Kadavu manta-ray cleaning station, June to October peak, verified Manta Pacific Research Foundation). Six proper bedrooms per Residence with a private chef, butler, and 27-meter pool. For a family or friends group of 12 with a dive-and-snorkel program at the center of the week, this is the math. The Great Astrolabe holds 1,000 species of fish and 350 species of hard coral on the reef section closest to the Residence beaches.
What we would change: the Kadavu Group reads more weather-exposed than the Mamanucas. Confirm the helicopter transfer cancellation policy on the inbound day in writing; the standard fall-back is a fixed-wing transfer to Vunisea airstrip (35 minutes) and a boat transfer from there (25 minutes), which adds about 60 minutes to the inbound time on a weather-affected day.

No. IV
Turtle Island (Yasawa), full-island buyout.
Bedrooms: 14 bures across the lagoon lee shore, single-bedroom each. Sleeps: 28 maximum (14 couples). Island: Turtle Island (private, 2.0 km²), northern Yasawa chain, 30-minute seaplane transfer from Nadi. Water access: 14 private beaches (one per bure on the rotation), Blue Lagoon filming location (the 1980 Brooke Shields film was shot here, verified turtlefiji.com), lagoon kayaks, dive operation. Peak nightly rate: $2,250 / night per couple (verified turtlefiji.com May 2026); $31,500 / night full-island buyout for 14 couples. Included: all meals, all drinks (including premium spirits and house wines), seaplane round-trip transfer from Nadi, water sports, dive (separate). Not included: premium champagne, sportfishing, helicopter transfer (seaplane is included). .
Why it ranks here: the only Fijian private-island compound that runs on a no-internet, no-TV register by house rule (verified turtlefiji.com May 2026, with limited Wi-Fi at the main lodge only). The 14-bure cap and the rotating-beach scheme (every couple gets a private beach picnic on rotation) means peak occupancy is 28 guests on a 2-square-kilometer island. For a multi-couple birthday or anniversary group of 14 to 28 that wants the analog register without staff or kids in the picture, this is the math. The food register (the chef bench has been stable since 2008 under Australian-Pacific direction, verified Turtle press materials) reads against any all-inclusive in the South Pacific.
What we would change: the analog rule includes the children policy (Turtle is adult-only at certain weeks, with a children-allowed window June 1 to September 30 and December 22 to January 11, verified turtlefiji.com May 2026). Confirm the policy in writing for the specific week if the group includes guests under 16.

No. V
Wakaya Club & Spa, Vale O villa.
Bedrooms: 4 (Vale O is the largest residence; the property has 10 bures and 2 residences). Sleeps: 8 in Vale O; full-island buyout to 50 across all keys. Island: Wakaya (private, 9.7 km²), east of Viti Levu, 50-minute fixed-wing transfer from Nadi to the on-island strip. Water access: private 8-mile beach line, full reef, dive operation. Peak nightly rate: $7,200 to $14,000 / night for Vale O (verified privateislandsonline.com May 2026). Included: all meals, water sports, dive (separate), kids program. Not included: sportfishing charter, helicopter transfer (fixed-wing is standard). .
Why it ranks here: Wakaya was the David Gilmour (founder, Fiji Water and Wakaya Perfection) compound through 2017, with the post-2017 ownership running the property in a similar register. The Vale O villa is the four-bedroom residence with a private cliff and the only private-island Fijian residence with a regulation tennis court and a 100-meter beach to itself. For a family of 8 or a smaller group than the COMO Laucala or Vatulele tier, this is the math.
What we would change: the post-Gilmour-era operating standard has not fully stabilized across 2023 to 2025. Reader reports from 2024 and 2025 confirm food-and-beverage service inconsistency on the resort side that does not show at Laucala or Kokomo. Confirm the chef bench and the head-of-house in writing for the specific week.

No. VI
Six Senses Fiji, four-bedroom Reserve Residence (Malolo).
Bedrooms: 4. Sleeps: 8. Island: Malolo (south Mamanucas), 35-minute boat or 15-minute helicopter from Nadi. Water access: private beach, Six Senses dive school, snorkel reef at the door. Peak nightly rate: $4,800 to $7,400 / night (verified sixsenses.com May 2026). Included: daily breakfast, water sports, kids program, wellness consultation. Not included: meals beyond breakfast, dive, helicopter transfer. .
Why it ranks here: Six Senses Fiji (opened 2018) is the most architecturally serious of the Mamanuca resorts, with the four-bedroom Reserve Residence on the south point of the property reading against any contemporary villa-residence in the South Pacific. Right for an 8-person family that wants the resort-grade wellness register (the on-property spa runs a 60-minute consultation as a complimentary inclusion, with the program written for the week) and the proximity to Nadi (15-minute helicopter, vs. 75 minutes to Laucala).
What we would change: the Mamanuca chain reads more developed than the Yasawas or Kadavu. Day-trip traffic from Denarau marina runs into the Mamanucas through midday on peak days. Confirm the property side (south point or north point) on inquiry; the south point holds the privacy.

No. VII
Tokoriki Island Resort villa cluster (Mamanucas).
Bedrooms: 1 to 2 per villa, with the Sunset Pool Villa (1BR) and the Beachfront Pool Villa (1BR with daybed) as the top tier. Sleeps: 2 to 4 per villa, with adjacent-villa booking possible for 8 to 12. Island: Tokoriki (north Mamanucas), 90-minute boat or 20-minute helicopter from Nadi. Water access: private beach, lee-shore reef. Peak nightly rate: $1,400 to $2,800 / night per villa (verified tokoriki.com May 2026, adult-only resort). Included: daily breakfast, water sports, transfers at the villa level. Not included: meals beyond breakfast, dive. .
Why it ranks here: the only adult-only resort in our top ten and the best-rated honeymoon-or-couples register in Fiji. Tokoriki has held a top-three TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice rank for 11 consecutive years (verified tripadvisor.com May 2026). For a multi-couple group that wants the adult-only register at a non-private-island rate, this is the math. The adjacent-villa booking lets a group of 8 to 12 hold three or four sunset pool villas in a row.
What we would change: the adjacent-villa register is not a true villa rental. The shared resort dining and the resort pool deck are the trade. For a true single-residence register, drop to a private-island compound at a higher rank above.

No. VIII
Nanuku Resort Fiji, four-bedroom Royal Residence.
Bedrooms: 4. Sleeps: 8. Island: Pacific Harbour, Viti Levu (mainland, southeast coast). Water access: private beach (lee shore), full reef, dive operation, surf-break access (Frigates Pass, 12-minute boat run). Peak nightly rate: $4,200 to $6,400 / night (verified nanuku.com May 2026). Included: all meals, water sports, kids program (full Bula Buddies bench), butler, transfers from Nadi (3-hour road or 30-minute helicopter). Not included: dive, surf charter, helicopter transfer (separate). .
Why it ranks here: the only mainland-Viti-Levu villa in our top ten and the only Fiji villa with surf access to Frigates Pass (the offshore break at Beqa Lagoon, rated a top-five Pacific reef break on a south swell, verified surfline.com). Four proper bedrooms with the Auberge Resorts brand register since 2022 (verified aubergeresorts.com), the dedicated Bula Buddies (full-time staff for children), and the mainland transfer math that saves the helicopter or seaplane line for a multi-leg trip.
What we would change: the mainland register reads against the private-island compounds on the water-clarity math. The Pacific Harbour coast holds river runoff from Viti Levu and the visibility drops on the south swell days. For the water-clarity register, drop to a private-island compound.

No. IX
Likuliku Lagoon Resort, overwater bure (Malolo).
Bedrooms: 1 per bure (overwater); the resort holds 45 keys total with 10 overwater. Sleeps: 2 per overwater bure (adult-only). Island: Malolo (south Mamanucas), 60-minute boat from Nadi. Water access: overwater deck with steps to the lagoon, snorkel reef at the door. Peak nightly rate: $1,800 to $3,200 / night per overwater bure (verified likulikulagoon.com May 2026). Included: all meals, water sports, transfers. Not included: dive, helicopter transfer. .
Why it ranks here: the only resort in Fiji with full overwater-bure inventory at this scale (Likuliku was the first overwater-bure operator in Fiji, opened 2007). For a couple that wants the South Pacific overwater register without the private-island commitment, this is the math. The lee-shore lagoon water is clear year-round.
What we would change: the overwater bure is a single-bedroom. There is no four-bedroom or family configuration. For a family of 6 to 8, the resort has beach villas that read against any Mamanuca property but are not the overwater register.

No. X
InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort, three-bedroom Beachfront Residence.
Bedrooms: 3. Sleeps: 6. Island: Viti Levu (Coral Coast, Natadola Bay), 45-minute road transfer from Nadi. Water access: Natadola Beach (one of the best mainland beaches in Fiji), Natadola Bay championship golf course (Vijay Singh-designed, host of the Fiji International 2014 to 2019, verified vijaysingh.com and Fiji PGA records). Peak nightly rate: $1,800 to $3,400 / night (verified ihg.com May 2026). Included: daily breakfast, water sports, golf access (separate fees). Not included: meals beyond breakfast, dive, sportfishing, golf greens fees. .
Why it ranks here: the only Fiji property at the entry rate band with the championship-golf register attached. Three proper bedrooms with the Natadola Bay course at the door (rated top-100 by Golf Digest in 2018, verified Golf Digest archive). Right for a 6-person golf-and-beach trip that wants the resort-villa register at a mainland rate band rather than a private-island band.
What we would change: the resort register holds 270 keys at peak; the Beachfront Residence sits on the south end of the property with the golf-course adjacency but the day-trip traffic in the central pool. Confirm the room position is the standalone Residence, not an upgraded suite.
