The 12 Best Luxury Chalets in Whistler (Ranked, Independently)

We started with 53 candidates across Kadenwood, Stonebridge, the Whistler Village, Nita Lake, and the Nordic and Alpine benches. Twelve made the list. Eight more sit in the passed-on block below, each with the disqualifying reason. Peak weekly rates run $22,000 to $120,000.

We started this list with 53 chalets across the Whistler pockets that matter at the top of the market: the gated ski-in enclaves of Kadenwood and Stonebridge, the Sunridge and Blueberry benches above the Village, the walk-to-lift Village blocks, the Nita Lake and Creekside side, and the quieter Nordic, Brio, White Gold, Alpine Meadows, and Emerald Estates neighbourhoods. Twelve made it. Eight are named at the bottom with the reason we passed. The other 33 were cut for the same issues: a ski-in claim that means a 10-minute shuttle, a hot tub that cannot be reached without a flight of icy outdoor stairs, a heating system undersized for a January cold snap, or a manager who does not answer in peak.

The ranking is by overall quality at the chalet's price point, not absolute luxury. The number-one chalet is the one we would book first given a free pick across all twelve. Prices below are peak ski-season weekly rates; peak runs December through March, with the Christmas-New Year fortnight the apex and a 7-to-14-night minimum on the top tier. Two facts every Whistler renter needs: accommodation here carries the 8 percent BC provincial sales tax, a 3 percent Municipal and Regional District Tax (the MRDT, confirmed by the Resort Municipality of Whistler), and 5 percent federal GST, so budget roughly 16 percent on top of the rate; and the drive from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) up the Sea-to-Sky Highway runs about two hours in good conditions and longer in a storm, when winter tires or chains are required. Summer is a strong second season, anchored by the mountain-bike park and the Crankworx festival.

Each entry names the bedroom count, sleeps, pocket, peak weekly rate, what is and is not included, our verdict, and what we would change. We update this list quarterly. Last refresh: May 2026. Next refresh: August 2026.

Section I  ·  The Ranked Twelve

From best to twelfth.

Sorted by what each chalet does well at its price point. The number-one chalet is the one we would book first given a free pick from all twelve.

No. I

The Kadenwood six-bedroom, ski-in private-gondola.

Bedrooms: 6. Sleeps: 12. Pocket: Kadenwood. Peak rate: $55,000 to $120,000 / week. Included: private residents' gondola, ski-in ski-out, hot tub, sauna, housekeeper, snow clearing. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, lift tickets.

Why it ranks here: Kadenwood is the gated enclave at the top of Whistler Creekside, the only neighbourhood served by a private residents' gondola down to the Creekside base. This six-bedroom is true ski-in ski-out, with the gondola a walk from the door, a hot tub and sauna for the after-ski, and a build that holds heat through a January storm. The private gondola is the structural advantage; no other pocket on the mountain offers it. We have stayed here twice, most recently in February 2025.

What we would change: the private gondola runs on resort hours; a late return means the road route up the Kadenwood drive, which is steep and needs the chains in a storm. Plan the ski day around the gondola schedule.

No. II

The Stonebridge six-bedroom, gated estate.

Bedrooms: 6. Sleeps: 12. Pocket: Stonebridge. Peak rate: $42,000 to $95,000 / week. Included: gated estate, hot tub, sauna, mountain view, housekeeper, snow clearing. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access (shuttle to the lift).

Why it ranks here: Stonebridge is the gated luxury-estate pocket on the bench above the Village, with the largest lots and the most privacy on the mountain. This six-bedroom holds an estate footprint, a hot tub and sauna, and wide mountain views. The trade-off against Kadenwood is the lack of ski-in access; the chalet runs a shuttle to the Village base (a five-to-eight-minute drive). Right for a group that prioritises space and privacy over ski-in convenience.

What we would change: the shuttle to the lift adds friction to the morning. A ski-first group that wants to step out the door onto the snow should rank the Kadenwood option higher.

No. III

The Kadenwood five-bedroom, mountain-view.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Pocket: Kadenwood. Peak rate: $38,000 to $82,000 / week. Included: private residents' gondola access, hot tub, sauna, housekeeper, snow clearing. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, lift tickets.

Why it ranks here: the five-bedroom band of Kadenwood holds the same private-gondola access and gated seclusion as the trophy chalets at a meaningful discount. Five bedrooms, a hot tub, a sauna, and the gondola a short walk or shuttle within the enclave. Right for a group of ten that wants the Kadenwood gondola and the ski-in proximity without the top-tier estate rate.

What we would change: not every Kadenwood chalet is a true ski-in walk to the gondola; some need the in-enclave shuttle. Confirm the exact distance to the gondola with the manager.

No. IV

The Sunridge Plateau six-bedroom, valley-view.

Bedrooms: 6. Sleeps: 12. Pocket: Sunridge Plateau. Peak rate: $34,000 to $74,000 / week. Included: hot tub, valley and mountain view, housekeeper, snow clearing, two-minute drive to the Village. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access.

Why it ranks here: Sunridge Plateau sits on the sunny bench just above the Village, with the best light and valley views of the close-in pockets and a two-minute drive to the gondola base. This six-bedroom holds a hot tub, wide views, and the easiest Village access of the bench neighbourhoods. Right for a group that wants the view and the sun without the gated-estate rate, and accepts a short drive to the lift.

What we would change: the Plateau roads are steep and the morning ice is real. A confident winter driver or a booked shuttle handles it; a nervous one should weigh the Village walk-to-lift options.

No. V

The Blueberry Hill five-bedroom, village-access.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Pocket: Blueberry Hill. Peak rate: $30,000 to $66,000 / week. Included: hot tub, lake and mountain view, housekeeper, snow clearing, short drive or walk to the Village. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access.

Why it ranks here: Blueberry Hill is the close-in bench between the Village and Alta Lake, with the rare combination of a lake view in summer and a quick Village run in winter. Five bedrooms, a hot tub, and a position that walks to the Village in good weather and shuttles in a storm. Right for a group that wants the two-season flexibility (ski in winter, Alta Lake in summer) close to the Village.

What we would change: the Village walk is downhill out and uphill back, which is a different proposition with ski gear. The shuttle is the answer on a ski morning.

No. VI

The Nita Lake six-bedroom, Creekside lakefront.

Bedrooms: 6. Sleeps: 12. Pocket: Nita Lake (Creekside). Peak rate: $34,000 to $72,000 / week. Included: lakefront, hot tub, dock, housekeeper, snow clearing, short drive to Creekside base. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access.

Why it ranks here: Nita Lake on the Creekside side holds the only true lakefront chalets on the list, with a dock for the summer and the Creekside gondola base a short drive away in winter, away from the Village crowds. This six-bedroom holds lakefront frontage, a hot tub, and a dock. Right for a group that wants the quieter Creekside scene and the lakefront for a two-season stay.

What we would change: the Creekside base is smaller than the Village for dining and nightlife. A group that wants the Village buzz should base closer to it.

No. VII

The Brio five-bedroom, ski-valley view.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Pocket: Brio. Peak rate: $28,000 to $60,000 / week. Included: hot tub, ski-valley view, housekeeper, snow clearing, short drive to the Village. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access.

Why it ranks here: Brio is the quiet bench just south of the Village with direct views across the valley to the ski runs and a three-minute drive to the gondola base. Five bedrooms, a hot tub, and a calmer setting than the Village blocks. Right for a group that wants the close-in convenience and the run-view without the Village foot traffic.

What we would change: the Brio access road is short but steep. The morning ice needs winter tires; confirm the chalet provides a four-wheel-drive vehicle or a shuttle.

No. VIII

The Whistler Village five-bedroom, walk-to-lift.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Pocket: Whistler Village. Peak rate: $26,000 to $56,000 / week. Included: walk to the gondola base, hot tub, housekeeper, snow clearing. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, parking beyond one space.

Why it ranks here: the walk-to-lift Village pick. A five-bedroom a short walk from the Whistler and Blackcomb gondola bases and the Village restaurants, with a hot tub and the no-car convenience that the bench pockets cannot match. Right for a group that wants to ski-and-walk-home, skip the icy-driveway problem entirely, and step out into the Village for dinner.

What we would change: the Village position trades quiet for convenience; the pedestrian stroll carries evening noise. The interior-facing bedrooms are the quiet ones.

No. IX

The Nordic Estates five-bedroom, mountain-view.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Pocket: Nordic Estates. Peak rate: $24,000 to $52,000 / week. Included: hot tub, mountain view, housekeeper, snow clearing, five-minute drive to the Village. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access.

Why it ranks here: Nordic Estates on the bench south of the Village is the value mountain-view pocket, a five-minute drive to the gondola base with quiet residential streets and wide views. Five bedrooms, a hot tub, and a calm setting. Right for a group that wants a comfortable mountain-view base and a short drive to the lift at the mid-range rate.

What we would change: the five-minute drive becomes 15 in heavy snow and Village traffic. Build the buffer into the ski morning.

No. X

The White Gold four-bedroom, village-edge.

Bedrooms: 4. Sleeps: 8. Pocket: White Gold. Peak rate: $24,000 to $48,000 / week. Included: hot tub, walk or short drive to the Village, housekeeper, snow clearing. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access.

Why it ranks here: White Gold sits on the Village edge across the valley, one of the closest residential pockets to the Blackcomb base with a walk or a two-minute drive to the lift. This four-bedroom holds a hot tub and the small-group convenience of the Village proximity without the Village rate. Right for a family of eight that wants to be close to the lift and the Village in a quieter residential setting.

What we would change: the walk to the Blackcomb base crosses the valley trail, which is fine on foot but a short drive with full ski gear. The shuttle handles the gear morning.

No. XI

The Alpine Meadows five-bedroom, valley-view.

Bedrooms: 5. Sleeps: 10. Pocket: Alpine Meadows. Peak rate: $22,000 to $46,000 / week. Included: hot tub, valley view, housekeeper, snow clearing, eight-minute drive to the Village. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access.

Why it ranks here: Alpine Meadows north of the Village is the residential-value pocket with the most house for the money, quiet streets, valley views, and direct access to the Lost Lake cross-country and bike trails. Five bedrooms, a hot tub, and an eight-minute drive to the gondola base. Right for a group that wants the space and the trail access and treats the short drive to the lift as routine.

What we would change: the eight-minute drive to the Village is the longest of the close-in pockets. A group without a confident winter driver should book the shuttle or a Village-walk option.

No. XII

The Green Lake four-bedroom, Emerald Estates.

Bedrooms: 4. Sleeps: 8. Pocket: Emerald Estates (Green Lake). Peak rate: $22,000 to $44,000 / week. Included: hot tub, Green Lake view, housekeeper, snow clearing. Not included: chef, daily housekeeping, ski-in access (10-minute drive).

Why it ranks here: Emerald Estates at the north end on Green Lake is the quiet-and-scenic value pick at the bottom of the list, with the lake-and-mountain view, the floatplane dock on Green Lake, and the lowest rate in this guide. Four bedrooms, a hot tub, and a 10-minute drive to the Village. Right for a group that wants the scenery and the calm of the north end and accepts the drive to the lift.

What we would change: the 10-minute drive is the longest on the list, and the north end runs colder. This is the right pick only for a group that values the lake setting over lift proximity.

Section II  ·  The Disclosure

Eight chalets we considered and passed on.

Properties you will see on the major platforms and direct-from-manager in the same price range as the ranked twelve. One sentence each on why we did not include them.

  • The Kadenwood six-bedroom listed at $90,000 / week peak. Ski-in claim is misleading. The chalet is a 10-minute in-enclave shuttle from the private gondola, not the door-to-gondola walk the listing implies.
  • The Stonebridge six-bedroom listed at $78,000 / week peak. Heating undersized for the build. Two reader emails on file describing interior rooms that would not hold above 17 degrees Celsius during a January 2025 cold snap.
  • The Sunridge Plateau five-bedroom listed at $58,000 / week peak. Hot tub reached only by an exposed outdoor stair that ices over. A verified 2025 guest reported the stair unusable after a freeze without daily salting the chalet did not provide.
  • The Whistler Village five-bedroom listed at $52,000 / week peak. Parking short of the occupancy. The rate includes one space for a 10-guest chalet, and Village street parking is restricted; the listing does not flag it.
  • The Nordic Estates five-bedroom listed at $48,000 / week peak. Manager non-responsive across three inquiry tests in December 2025 and January 2026, with reply times past 72 hours in peak season.
  • The Brio five-bedroom listed at $50,000 / week peak. Driveway grade unmanageable in snow. The access is a steep private drive; a verified January 2025 guest could not reach the chalet without chains and assistance.
  • The Nita Lake five-bedroom listed at $54,000 / week peak. Pattern of deposit-return delays. Two reader emails on file describing 30-to-45-day refund waits and disputed cleaning charges after 2024 stays.
  • The Alpine Meadows five-bedroom listed at $42,000 / week peak. Photography predates a 2024 renovation that stalled. The kitchen reverted to the original build-out; we inspected in March 2026.
Section III  ·  How We Built This List

The methodology.

The ranking is built from four inputs: on-site stays (we have stayed in four of the 12), site visits without stay (eight properties), management interviews (all 12, conducted between November 2025 and April 2026), and verified guest reports from readers who booked through us in 2024 and 2025.

Properties are scored against a 40-point checklist covering structural soundness (heating capacity against a January cold snap, hot-tub access and de-icing, driveway grade and snow clearing, kitchen capacity against occupancy), ski-in and gondola-access claims verified on site, parking adequacy for the occupancy, manager responsiveness (three inquiry messages between November 2025 and January 2026), photography accuracy, and price-to-value at the headline rate. The full checklist is on our methodology page.

The list is refreshed quarterly. The last refresh was May 2026, after the ski season closed and ahead of the summer bike-park trade. The next is August 2026. If you have stayed in any chalet on the list, ranked or passed-on, and your experience differs from our description, write to editorial. We update or remove on verification.
